Help my Fachion stand out

Some cultures use resins from certain plants to harden wooden and bone weapons. It wouldn't be too much of a stretch for a world like Athas to have a rare, but hardy, plant which produces such a resin. It might actually accomplish the color change too without painting the blade.

I'm thinking something like the azec macahuitl, although that usually is made with obsidian. small bone bladed weapons have been made and used, so that should work in a macahuitl-like falchion.

Ancient Aztec Weapon

How about not bone, but a curved wooden shaft with animal teeth protruding (like the macahutil). Maybe shark teeth, which I am unsure if that makes sense in DS. Shark teeth might be very rare items to acquire.

If a player wants his ancestral weapon to be an important part of his character's identify, a good DM will work with that and not destroy the weapon or offer a powerful other weapon as reward. Instead the DM can offer some ritual or magic that improves the existing ancestral weapon, etc.
