Help needed: Journey form Fearun to Kara-Tur.

Help: Journey form Kara-Tur to Fearun.

I am currently constructing a story about a journey from a good port in Fearun (Daggerford comes into mind), to Shou-Lung of Kara-Tur. The journey would be taken by a small trade boat. The time frame is aimed to be within a year, approximately 10 months, but shorter would be more ideal.

I would like some ideas and FR lore to plan this trip.

If your character were to take this trip, how would you plan the trip? By that I mean, where would you most likely to stop in between, what would be of your interests in these places, and how long will it take you to eventually arrive at Kara-Tur?

Further more, which part of Kara-Tur would you like to dock and how would you like to reach Shou-Lung?

Any ideas would be welcome.

Romeo.

Using the FR Atlas I just did a rough distance calculation... 11,800 miles. I can't even begin to consider how to answer your questions! :)

Personally, I think the overland route is the more practical way of reaching Shou Lung (see Unapproachable East for a suggested route... and a shortcut). However, if your heart is set on this ocean voyage, my only suggestion is that you buy the FR Atlas and map the journey out that way.

I don't know about the water route, but I have been working on a campaign that has the party accompanying a large caravan from Waterdeep to Kara-Tur and back. I've got the first 7 chapters converted to 3e (8 is almost done) and chapters 8-11 in 2e that I'm still working on. Chapter 12 takes place in the port city of Karatin. And 13 will be in the captial of Shou Lung, Kuo Te'Lung. Anyway, if you want, check it out at www.vaughanvisual.com/rpg/Campaigns/caravan.html

Um, and I know it says I last updated in December and that Chapter 8 would be done over Christmas, but I, um, haven't had time, yeah, that's it, no time. Actually life keeps getting in the way of my gaming. I hate it when that happens. Anyway, my goal is to get Chapter 8 done and posted before I move in July.

Back in the year 2001 I ran an extended campaign in a Kara Tur setting. You might be able to mine that for several ideas. The descriptions of the cities are fairly detailed, and I've also cited some of my refences in the DM's notes. The link is as follows:

Part of that story also involved the party visiting the original home of the Hengeyokai race. The link for that is as follows:

I'd also find a nice book on Marco Polo, see if that stirs any ideas for you.

History can be such a great adventure seed.

BV210: You writtings are great, I will spend some times on reading it, It certainly should help me on my cause.

I have changed the idea form traveiling by boat, to takeing the road of THe Golden Way.

The reason I am interested such a trip, it is because I got a Kara-Tur character I have in mind, trying to fit him to Fearun logically.

From researching Kara-Tur a bit more, I have created a rough background about the character.

Although, fitting him in Fearun is still a problem.

The background can be found here:

Any inputs are wellcome.
