First Post
HI,

I've had a "watery accident" with my dnd books, and mosto of them are now dried up and fine, but a few pages have been destroyed to unrecoginisable, so i was wondering if anyone could be so kind enough to post the scans of the following pages, or send them to me in an e-mail.

I dont think there is a problem with copyright because it's only 3 pages...

Dungeon masters guide- pages 84 and 86

Monster manual - page 221

Thanks in advance.

*these are all 3.5 books

well, I am sort of a collector, and the whole page design, and everything on it is very important to me.

I hope you understand

Zoran,
You know that BFG is holding regular contests, of which the prizes are free books, right? The 3.0 core books are still up for grabs....

Sorry, I don't scan books....no scanner (and even if I did have one, I have too many writer friends that would flay me alive for that...)

I think Ylis is right, I'm sure it is a copyright infringement to scan and send to you. Sorry bud.

Argh! By a cruel twist of fate, my 3e MM is now destroyed! I feel for you, Zoran! (sigh) Guess I'll have to find another one...my 2 year old decided to sneak out of his room sometime in the middle of the night, grab my MM, and "read" it (which included tearing out/tearing up all read pages, I'm assuming). There's one poor, decrepit page hanging on to the cover....(sigh). I'm going to bury it tonight...then, I'm off to raid the local gaming stores to try to find a used one....

Incidentally, BFG's contests are over :( Too bad....

I am no lawyer, but my understanding of copyright is doing anything to make money off of someone elses work, or claiming it as your own. Scanning and sending copies of pages of something they already own is not a violation of the law, at least that I remember reading. No one is going to feed a blood sucking lawyer over a few "grey area" pages of possible/doubtful copyright infringement anyway.

This is no different than you copying certain pages of a rule book that pertain to a players character and giving it to them so they have the reference on hand. They do not even own the book in question. At least this guy does. Now copying the whole book, that you do not own the original of, or music file, that you did not buy the original of, is illegal. Otherwise, it would be illegal of you to make backup copies of your music or computer games. All you would be doing in this case is providing him with a "backup" copy of something he already owns. For free, of course. Charging him money changes everything.

IF I had a working scanner I would send them to you. I hope someone else does.
