Help on a melee monk build?

I'm creating a monk character for a game. The character is (or, will be) very focused on physical excellence - a warrior-monk.

We are 7th level, and gestalt. I was thinking monk7/fighter7, but that seemed a bit bland. Anyone have any suggestions for multi-classing or PrCs? We are playing FR, and all WOTC source books (FR and non) are allowed for character creation.

We get 50 pts and use the standard point buy chart from the DMG.

If you want a spellcaster, be a wizard3/druid7/mystic theurge4. 11th level divine spellcaster and 7th level arcane spellcaster. Decent saves. Decent health. Wildshape. Can't be tracked.

Alignment and Diety?

Alignment: LN
Diety: Undecided, probably Lathlander (sp?) because he is the God of Athletics, as well as the sun.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I wanted a monk/melee fighter, not a spellcaster. All the rest of the PCs are already casters... we have a severe lack of melee expertise.

Hiizzzurm. Well, Monk/Ranger is an interesting choice. High BAB sickens your flurry, and if you go with Ranged style, you'll be great at ranged, especially if your first or second stat is dex. That and favored enemy(human) will help you dish out the damage. Rangers will give your more skill points too won't it?

Monk/Fighter is honestly, probably your best choice. You will just constantly destroy things all the time.

Monk/Ninja will make you an amazing athelete, and give you some fantastic bonuses. But the Mediocore HP is a setback if your the party tank. If you have other melee, I'd go with this no doubt. Ninja and Monk use pretty much the same abilities, and at 7th, your past the time when your AC is really blowful.

If you were going evil, I'd tell you to look at Monk of the Long Death from the FR campaign setting. It's not great, but it's nice.

The Monk Rogue is a possibility. Sure, you don't get full BAB, or high HD, but you get more skills, Sneak Attack damage with your fists, and evasion + evasion may get you improved evasion early. I'm not sure.

Are you rolling stats or using point buy? Monks have huge multi atribute dependancy and with gestalt it'll only get worse.

If your stats can handle it though a monk/wizard or monk/sorcerer will have great synergy.

At low levels you can use mage armor + shield to compensate for otherwise garbage AC. Mid levels you get buff spells (and spells like truestrike/wraithstrike to compensate for not great to-hit). Haste and flurry of blows go very well together. Add in the arcane strike feat (around 6th level for this build) and you get some nice damage too.

You absolutely don't want to do this.

Monk's major problems are: low hit die and non-full BAB.

Whatever you do, get full BAB!

I would just stick with Fighter/Monk and use a reach weapon. Kill them with the reach weapon, or if they close... kick them/head butt them (you don't need to use hands to use monk attacks).

All rogue gives you is more skills and sneak attack. Ho hum. Monk already has decent skills, and sneak attack? Absolutely not as good as full BAB and a better hit die (plus weapon proficiencies and feats feats feats!).
