Sunstrike

A sunstrike weapon has a significant portion -- such as its blade, axe head, or arrow head -- transformed into holy light, although this does not modify the item's weight. It gives off light as a torch (20 ft. radius). A sunstrike weapon ignores non-evil matter. It deals damage only to the undead, evil outsiders and creatures with the [Evil] descriptor. Thus, they ignore Armor, Shield and Enhancement bonuses to AC (however Dexterity, Dodge, Deflection and other bonuses to AC still apply).

Sunstrike weapons function as Ghost Touch if used against incorporeal Evil foes.

I can't quite decide - what are its effects on evil creatures that are not undead, outsiders and do not have the [Evil] descriptor? How would it affect an evilly enchanted item? Would an evilly enchanted suit of armour be damaged by and provide protection against this weapon?

Examples:

- Greedy human merchant: goes right through
- Half-fiend: hits
- Demon Armor: goes right through
- Intelligent evil sword: hits

Does that help? -- Nifft

Loks quite pitiful, Maybe if you made it hit all evil creatures? You have to be evil to get [Evil] next to the name.

Do evil effects affect the weapon?

From the description, it's only good for hitting undead, evil outsiders and certain other evil creatures. Basically, it performs as a brilliant energy weapon that can only hit a small subsection of creatures, plus undead. It has a small advantage for the paladin who wants to hit first and Detect Evil later, but otherwise the benefit is small. I'm leaning towards +3 on this, but I still have a couple of questions:

Does it ignore the natural armour of the creatures it can affect?
Does it ignore hardness and/or DR of the creatures and objects it can affect?
Would an intelligent evil shield or suit of armour provide any protection?
