I didn't start the thread here, or tell Morrus about it, or mention it to GamingReport, or anything. I didn't even mention it in my site-update mailing list mail I sent yesterday. Why are you giving me flak about this?

No flak here. First of all, we should all respect the fact that cats are the superior life form on this planet [DUH!]. Second, I've seen far too much money raised on these boards for various reasons, sometimes having nothing to do with gaming, to even think twice about this.
I won't be bidding because I don't need/want another copy of any of these books, but like boschdevil, I would like to know how to make a small contribution. I would like to think others would do the same for my cat if the need arose.
Finally, I would like to point out that at the entry level with most major RPG publishers, you get paid approximately 5 cents per word. A racial write-up or original monster would average around 700 words. Since Sean K. is an experienced designer and was part of WotC R&D until recently, I would expect him to make closer to 10 cents per word. Regardless, even at 5 cents per word and a 700 word piece of work, that's a value of around $35 - or roughly the MSRP on any of the items he is selling. I would challenge anyone questioning his ego or methods to question their own motives.

Good for you Sean, and best of luck with the auction, how's the cat's prognosis? Personally I'm a dog lover from way back, and recently a very special canine friend of mine passed away, so I'm happy to hear that your friend could be helped. As Mr. Draeder pointed out you are simply using your skills to get what you need in a completely above boards manner. The fact that charity makes you feel uncomfortable just confirms that. Again, best wishes on a speedy recovery for Brillig.

If you feel that you have to give something out to people who had donated money by directly sending it to your paypal, you might be stuck making a whole bunch of stuff.
In my case, I've looked at your web site and used it as a template so that i don't inadverently cross some border of the d20 rules, so you could consider my "gift" a consultation fee. hehehehe

Well, she's all stitched up with attractive black thread and is recovering nicely (she's not acting any different, it's been several days since the operation). We're waiting to hear back from the vet on what the mass was. I'm thinking it's probably nothing, as our other cat (this cat's sister) had a similar mass and it was just a weird cystlike thing, but this "probably nothing" cost about $400 to remove....
Sorry to hear about the dog; back in Wisconsin I lost both of my dogs in the same week to cancer, I know it's rough.

Kudos to Sean for offering something up rather than just holding out an empty hat. (Double kudos for actually doing something to raise the money – too many pets are lost to “financial euthanasia”.) I’m glad that people are spreading the word and I hope the results are enough to help.
Our kitty recently went through a procedure to flush out bladderstones (a cat who should not eat fish - go figure), so I can empathize with both the anxiety and the hit to the wallet. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

A while back there was a book on magic items, Swords into Plowshares, that had profits go to charity.
How about getting the people together and doing another book for Animal Curely Society or something along those lines?
Take the feats or special classes, get some of the other community helpers and make a project out of it.
