Help Sean Reynold's Cat!

For the record, I posted info about the auction in two places:

(1) My website
(2) My message boards

I didn't start the thread here, or tell Morrus about it, or mention it to GamingReport, or anything. I didn't even mention it in my site-update mailing list mail I sent yesterday. Why are you giving me flak about this?

No reason other than I find the constant deification of game designers obnoxious. :p

I think Joe might be on to something. If he wants to organize it, I'm in. I can write and edit, heck I'll even create the index if Joe wants one. I think he knows it's not going to help Sean's cat, as the problem was certainly not cruelty. Anyone else want to step up?

As a dog owner who had his Spaniel run over by a car in February, I can sympathize. It was about $300.00, but my wife and I would have paid $10,000 if it came to it -

(she's fine now, btw - but a fractured hip and a lotta painkillers will scare the :):):):) outta you until you know she's better.)

I've been calling her "skidmark" for the tire tracks on her fur afterwards - and my wife hates it. :)

I hope she gets better soon!

Probably a good idea if he knows the cat's going to need an operation in 6 months, Joe. Not so good if the mortgage is due this month.

Agreed.

Sean seemed to have some concerns with accepting money via paypal for this without providing something in return. Hence the idea.

I'd be willing to help. I've got Adobe Acrobat and Page Maker so can do a somewhat normal job of layout unless a pro decides to cough up some time.

The charity I named was just one off the top of my head. I'm allergic to cats, dogs, and most other things save feathers. If someone knows a more appropriate avenue, that wouldn't be a problem with me.

So you're giving _me_ flak because other people have taken an interest in my auctions? Nice.

Do you get on the case of any other game designer when they decide to auction off some of their surplus books? Or on any other gamer when they announce a big auction?

In other words, why are you going out of your way to be a jerk about something that isn't hurting anyone?

I would be willing to contribute a small amount of writing - say 3,000 to 5,000 words (your average Dragon article's worth). Shoot me an email and if enough people are able to contribute, I'll set aside some time.

One down eh? That was easy. ;)

You misunderstand me. I don't have any problem with you, or with your auction, or with your cat. What I do have a problem with is the line of sycophants here that would sell their own cat if that would make them friends in some small way with a game designer. Its sad and pathetic.
