Help!? - Seeking Advice on Owning/Operating Shop

I doubt many would disagree that the more shops we have the better!

I bet once you open your store, you would disagree with that statement. There is a limited market and you have to compete with online sales as well as other stores. People are likely to come and enjoy your comfortable environment, play in your tournaments and then preorder the next greatest book release from Amazon for 25% less than you can offer.

From the limited sample I've seen, comics can be profitable because the fans want their copy the day it comes out. Game materials might sometimes generate that kind of frenzy, but more often you will find a few early adopters who have to have the instant gratification, but others would be willing to wait for shipping in order to save a few bucks.

At least it sounds like you understand that there is a decent chance you will not succeed, that's better than my friend who wants to do the same thing (despite all the failed stores he has seen, he is convinced that he would do better). Good luck to you.

You should probably talk extensively to owners of similar businesses to find out about the business beforehand. If you don't know any, you should get plenty of contacts.
