Help understanding the PoL Archfey

Locutus Zero

First Post
Hey all. I've begun working the Prince of Frost into my PoL adventure. It is early yet (level 5) but I am trying to get a good handle on the nature of the Archfey. What are their powers, where do they live, how do they live, what is their relationship to the Gods, etc.

I plan on playing up a dispute between the Prince of Frost and the Raven Queen, probably involving some other Archfey. I just need to understand how all these deities work.

I plan on using this too as a minor part in a campaign.

Archfey live in the Feywild and are all-but-totally-powerful. They have godlike powers and rule over the various and plentiful Fey Courts. The Summer Court, The Gloaming Court, The Winter Court, The Court of the Summer Prickley Pears and Rainbows, The Court of the Long Night, etc...

Gods are more powerful and derive power from their followers, but Archfey do not necessarily. They tend to derive their power from being an embodiment of a fey or natural aspect or quality.

I am sure someone else can provide a little more in depth explanation for you. Perhaps Shemeska or other Planescape person may be able to illuminate us. I dont't think the Archfey were a major part of previous editions. It is more of an advancement of 4E. I like it and find it interesting.

I think FreeXenon has the right of it. AFAIK, we've only seen two archfey statted up -- the Prince of Frost (a level 31 solo) and the Bramble Queen (a level 27 solo). That puts them on par with demon lords, but still below the raw power of even the most vulnerable deities (Vecna, Bahamut, Tiamat, and Lloth).

For example, I do not think the Prince of Frost could directly challenge the Raven Queen -- but if he could somehow manipulate other archfey or gods into the conflict, he could emerge victorious (whatever that means, given the Prince of Frost's various motivations).

Archfey also gain power from thier warlocks kills.
