Help us take down an epic-level psion!

Akira is a cyberpunk anime by Katsuhiro Otomo. It features several people with incredible psychic power. Tetsuo, the main "antagonist," unleashes destruction on a massive scale after he escapes from a military lab designed to keep kids with these kinds of powers under observation. It gets violent as hell at times, and the scenes of destruction alone are breathtaking.

I now return you to your regularly scheduled strategy session.

Three steps to victory . . .

1. Cast Forcecage at the yutz.
2. Have your wizard create an antimagic field around himself, then run up to the forcecage. Since forcecage is a bunch of walls of force, it will not be suppressed (under 3.0, see Stronghold Builders, though I remember no change in 3.5).
3. Walk up to him and poke him with a stick.

;)

1) The devils, in fact, already have the knowledge from the book. This operation is strictly to keep the knowledge out of our hands. So backing out of the fight is still an option.
5) Storming the Nine Hells to retrieve the book might be easier than defeating him.
I'm missing something here. Why would retrieving the book from the devils change anything? This guy was hired by the devils to keep the book's information out of mortal hands (or your hands, at least), right? It sounds like nabbing the physical book just makes them more determined to go after you.
6) Having two solars aid us wouldn't change the balance much
Perhaps he knows dismissal, banishment, or the like?

Can you gate in templated creatures?
* Celestial ancient silver dragon (34 HD, 20d8 breath weapon, SR 29, casts spells as 15th lvl sorcerer)
* Fiendish corpse tearer linnorm [MM2] (28 HD, paralysis breath weapon, SR 39, casts spells as 17th lvl cleric, each claw attack bestows 1 neg level)

If I was designing an epic psion badass, he would have Psionic Meditation (natch), Quicken Power, Multispell/power x2, and would know both schism and hustle. That's four powers a round if he has the luxury of not moving - 1 normal, 1 from the schism, 1 quickened, move action to regain focus, 1 more quickened, hustle for an extra move action, which is used to regain focus for the next round. You could add in fission as well for even more fun.

Actually I would give him at least 3 Multispell feats, so that he could also use an immeadiate power when it's not his turn (energy adaptation, evade burst, etc.). If he still had epic feats to spare, add in one or more Epic Psionic Focuses and some other metapsionic feats so that he can further enhance the 2 quickened powers each round.

If such a character gets to act, your group is quite possibly dead. But, that's epic levels for you.

But, everything special that he can do requires his focus. Your group is probably already aware of this, but regaining focus provokes an AoO. If you can get your fighters or summoned beasties to stick to him, it might slow him down some.

And shatter mind blank is worthless. As written, the target gets PR, a saving throw, the caster has to succeed at a dispel check, and its range is 30 feet.

Do you hate the drawing style, the characters, the cliches, the plotting, or what?

I've personally wearied of the superhero-style energy blast fights, the save-the-world plots, and various other cliches of most anime myself. But there are a lot of good stories out there in anime-land. Trust me.

Now, let's get this back on topic and try not to turn this into an anime flamewar.

Oh, and aside from giving everyone mindblank, if you can manage to make everyone immune to fire, cold, electricity, and sonic damage (Masters of the Wild has an invulnerability to all elements spell, but it's a 9th-lvl druid-only spell), that would pretty much negate most attacks that a psion could hit you with. Then you only have to worry about your protections being knocked down with dispels (or epic dispels). Dispelling buffer could help there, but you don't have a psychokineticist in the group.

Several things:

Anti-Magic spells only have a chance to stop epic level spells/psionics, don't count on it stopping everything.

There is an epic feat called Spell Stow Away, which, whenever a particular spell is cast (determined at the time of the feat selection) that you can also cast within your line of sight, you get the benefits of the spell as well.

This is most often used with Heal and Time Stop. Are you sure he is "only" a Psion?

A reasonably prepared Epic Caster will rip even a well prepared group of non-epic characters apart.

Were I you I would have one of your Clerics use Miracle to let him take the information from your mind, but have it be restored in 24hrs (or some other appropriate time period). It is trickery, it is possible that Olidammara may not even charge your cleric for it.
