I got a e-mail from my Bro. yesterday, he's going to run a DnD game while he's here for the holidays and wanted a PC concept from me. He said that he'll be useing Unearthed Arcana, the 3 "complete" books and other resouces for any Rogues etc. that folks want to play, since I don't have those books it's going to be tough to do, I do have a concept from looking thru a couple at the bookstore etc, I just need y'alls suggestions on feats that I need that I don't know about

The following is the paramerters that he send me...

Level- 6th ( prestige classes must be cleared by DM, you can have a Gestald PC)
Ability's- 32 Point buy (+1 LA)
Races- Human, Halfling, Gnome, Elf, Half-Elf
Feats- From the books mentioned send for feat list for a rogue PC
Equipment- Standard list from core book
Arms and Armor- Standard list
Magic items - Total cannot excede 7000 GP total, weapons are masterwork or +1 only (tile option for potions is allowed)(?)
Spell Lists; from list in Core book 1, and complete books

Here's my basic PC concept that I was able to get from preuseing the complete books at WaldenBooks.

Stormhorse; A Halfling gestalt Fighter/ War Mage,
I plan on takeing the feats Power Attack & Combat Casting from the getgo, as for spells I thought those with a "electricity" descriptor. Any other feats, spells I should look at ?

Don't know if I'll be back this weekend so here's my e-mail- RM.Durham@gmail.com - I really need some suggestions here guys.

O and if you read this Tim (brother mine) my Amazon wish list is still up and it CHOCK FULL of RPG books Santa (or you and Sara) can get me !

You say that your character may be a gestalt character? I sure hope everyone knows about this option and will use it, because a gestalt character is much more powerful than a standard character!

I don't understand why you're talking about rogue feats and rogue concepts when you want to play a Gestalt Fighter / Warmage...

Also, as a Warmage, you don't need to choose your spells. You have access to every spell on your spell list. I'd consider Spell Focus: Evocation as a feat, since your spells will be, for the most part, evocation spells. You might want to think about Arcane Strike (CW IIRC) which lets you use a spell slot of level X to add +X to your attack and +Xd4 to your damage for 1 round. Of course, you can't take Arcane Strike until your 6th level.

I don't know if Power Attack is a good choice. I'd rely more on Weapon Finesse and Arcane Strike for melee damage dealing.

As for equipment, a magic chain shirt and potions of healing are no-brainers. Get a mw rapier for now.

I'd distribute my abilities as such:
STR: 12 - 2 = 10 (4 points)
DEX: 16 + 2 = 18 (10 points)
CON: 12 (4 points)
INT: 12 (4 points)
WIS: 8 (0 points)
CHA: 16 (10 points)

Hope this helps.

As Thanee pointed out to me before: Skill Focus (Concentration) is better than Combat Casting.

Sorry if I sound completely ignorant but what's a gestalt character?
I'm not entirely sure either (I haven't spent that much time with AU) but I believe you choose any two core classes and take the best options from each. Like, a Fighter/Wizard would have the best BAB, d10 HD, and full casting.

But both together are better than either alone.
Well, I guess so, but two feats in order to get plusses on Concentration seems excessive to me. Especially since the DCs start to get pretty easy in a few levels.

Gestalt Characters are an option in Unearthed Arcana (and not MC's Arcana Unearthed). You indeed choose 2 classes, and take the best abilities of each. In this case, his Fighter/Warmage would indeed get:
d10 HD
Fighter BAB
Good Will and Fort saves
Fighter bonus feats
Warmage spellcasting abilities
etc.

When you play with Gestalt characters, every character is usually a gestalt character. It makes them more powerful, so it's best to use this option when you have too few players at the table (1-3).

Gestalts can also be used if you want to give the characters a "theme". For example, you might want to try a barbaric campaign. Every character has to be a gestalt barbarian/something else.

How would that affect ECLs?
