help with character concept

I'm starting a new campaiugn on Saturday and have been thinking about characters. THe starting level is 8th since one of the women really wants to play an old character who is 8th level. My current concept I'm thin king of after decidng against the Para ooze gensai cleric with ooze domain oozemaster, and against the reformed evil bad guy who everyone evil and good wantys to kill, to go with a druid.

I've yet to play a Druid in d20 one of the few classes I haven't played (the others being Barbarian, Paladin, and Wizard). In the campaign black dragons have animal intelligence because the Queen of Black dragons pissed off the single elder god. So as punishment all her children became animal stupid while she was give immortality to watch her kids be punished till the end of time. That's the basics of it. So, I was thinking of a druid that is very interested in the Black Dragons and their animal intelligence since all other dragons are renown for great intillect. I'm just trying to piece together some ideas for him.

Any thoughts on this? I know its not much but the idea is still fresh, in the brainstorm phase if you will.

It sounds like the black dragon angle is going to be a heavy part of the campaign. You might want to back off from it in case you step on the DMs turf. Or not. Hey. It's all about the love.

You could play an Odo-shapeshifter like character. A guy who believed that the only way to find true understanding is to spend time in non-human forms.

You could play a nasty-blaster druid (put the "fun" back into "fundamentlaism"!)

You could play a humano-centric druid who felt that humans were the apex of the natural world. A sort of inverse-druid if you will.

Just some thoughts.

the black dragon angel as far as I know has never really been explored in the ten plus year history of this campaign world. So, I'm not going to be stepping on any toes.

I was trying to find a dragon oriented druid prestige class or something like that to give me asome rules diurection. So far nothing. I might try to fiugure out what a animal intellignet black dragon is worth as an animal camponion.
