D&D General Help with creatures found in old norse mythology

So we are working on getting a session going and the party wants it to be a semi lengthy session. What I need help with because my campaign is set in old mythology is coming up with creatures found during that time period that the party could bring as a gift to a 500 year old guardian dragon that protects a village near a lake. Any advice and recommendations will be taken into account and thank you to all who help and post.

What immediately comes to mind are elves, dwarves, and giants. You could include creatures based on singular monsters like serpents and dire wolves being the brood of the world serpent and the various wolves in Norse myths.

Thought about those but as I stated they will be looking for some sort of gift for a 500 year old gold dragon. I was suggested by someone who isn't a member of the initial party to use a platinum rainbow pegacorn as a gift for the party to find however I cannot find anything for stats to help the encounter of a pegacorn in the monster manual.

I am not sure what you are asking for in the OP, but based on the title I think @Yaarel might be of some help. I am sure there a lots of norse mythological creatures that I am unaware of. I know you have general nature spirits and then elves, dwarves, giants, and trolls. Maybe a kraken?

Are you looking for creatures/monsters to fight and present their head as a trophy or something? Or something more like rare beasts to hunt and capture?

If the latter, perhaps a descendent of one of the creatures that lives in the World Tree? Something like a silver stag descended from Dainn (maybe with some sort of serious headbutt attack and misty step-type powers for fleetness); or a jet-black squirrel descended from Ratatosk (whose constant chattering lies cause confusion or illusions).

If something big and monstrous, there are huge island monsters like lyngbakr or hafgufa, which sound to me like dragon turtles.
