Thanks to "Fenes2" and "Ravellion" for pointing out some flaws in my new racial modifiers. I will go back to the drawing board and re-think my ideas, so that the races are, well in my humble opinion, as balanced as I would like them to be. To be honest I was only really tring to alter the Elf as I felt that they lost something in the transition to 3.0 edition. I ended up altering the other races as a consequence of altering the elves. No worries I'll get it right soon enough. Keep the ideas coming...I will re-post the revised racial modifiers when they are ready, with hopefully a good reason as to why they are that way....Cheers All.;)
Well in 2e, elves were very powerful, so yes, they did lose quite a bit.

If you want to go for 2e like changes, you can raise their resistance to enchantment to +4, as they were very resistant in 2e to those spells. I also think giving them +1 with bows isn't as bad, as elves just "shouldn't use" crossbows IMO, it also won't affect their prowess too much (as you can't missile power attack or expertise for instance). However, a more flavourful change might be to give them all Far Shot when dealing with bows (regardless of requisite) due to keen elven eyes.

I would never do any of these things, but I am just helping you brainstorm.

Aaactually....

I don't think that making elves ECL+1 is such a bad idea, afterall. It puts into the game mechanics their tendency to learn now things thoroughly, but slowly, as well as gives you an excuse to stick in a few things to make the elves actually seem extraordinary, as they were in editions previous to 3rd. 3rd really did nerf the elf, all for the sake of 'balance'. Give 'em an ECL anyway, I say.:)

BTW, Hackenslash. When you do you think you'll be done making the fine-tuning for the new and improved elf?

Points Taken....

Ravellion - Good idea about that "Far Shot" ability. I Like that !! Maybe I will just make it Weapon Familiarity Longbow....we'll see but I will post my final result for all ENWorlders to critique and evaluate. Thanks for your interest. Cheers ;)

Angcuru - Hmmm...might make them ECL +1 as that would indeed give me more scope to err...play with !! and I should have my updated Elf and other PC races within the next 2-3 weeks. I have to run it all by my group anyway so won't post till they have seen the final version first. Thanks for the idea.:)

Surely you mean Hengeyokai. Spirit folk are without alternate forms. :D

Hah, and my OA is still in Uppsala. Pucko! :p

Yeah, you're right. Just posted the comment off the top of my head.

BTW, I saw your location as "Coogee, Sweden" Are you really back in this end of the world? If so where in the blue blazes is Coogee? Or are you just jiving us all and sitting back with a XXXX or VB enjoying the weather, which I can almost guarantee you will be better than what we are experiencing now.

Heh.

Tooheys New, to be exact. Living in Coogee, in the eastern suburbs of Sydney which, until last night, were experiencing better weather than you guys.

I heard it was a rainy midsommar. Thank god. My pining was milder than usual. :(

Anyway, it started pouring rain last night and we've had showers for most of the day.

And the "scenery" still isn't a shadow of what it is over there. :D

Well at present it is about 14-15 degrees in "Göteborg", overcast and trying to get wet. Rained for two days (Monday and Tuesday)

Here on the west coast it didn't rain over midsummer, so we had a great weekend, 18-20 degrees and windy as hell (couldn't put the old schnapps down on the table!)

The whole of May and June really has been a non-event weatherwise.

"Summer". Don't make me laugh.

As to the scenery... Well, I'd bring mine with me if I could! :D
