One of the PCs sister’s, Maria, will be found murdered. Maria was a priestess of Vestil and investigation shows that it was likely that she was killed by one of her fellow priestesses! (Have to throw in a couple of fake leads though).

Whats really going on is that a Devil known as Hadriel has infiltrated the temple and either dominated or corrupted several of the temple’s priestesses. Hadriel has three powerful diabolic servants at her command, all three of whom are Pit Fiends.
IronHorn: A spy of Hadriel’s master (Mephistopheles), who is to kill her if she succeeds so that Mephistopheles can take credit.
Mal’Ron:A spy of Asmodeus, who is to save Hadriel so that Mephistopheles can be punished for trying to take credit for Hadriel’s work. Mal’Ron knows that one of the other Devils is going to kill Hadriel but not which one.
Tooth’Mak:The only one loyal to Hadriel. Tooth’Mak is also close to understanding what Hadiel is planning to do.

Hadriel is using the temple of Vestil as one of the sights for a ritual that will open up a
portal between the Prime and Hell. No one knows this is her plan. They just know
she is up to something big.
What I need help with is…
What is stopping Hadriel from opening up the portal? I need something to prevent her
from opening the portal? In other words, how can the PCs stop her without a direct
confrontation?
How can Hadriel, or one of the other factions, manipulate the PCs into bringing about an
end to the world?
What are a few good fake leads I can send at the PCs?
