That doesn't bode well for D&D: HAT, Shang-Chi barely made a profit (roughly 200 million to make, rule of thumb says that much again in marketing, and it only made 432 million), so they really need to up their game on marketing this movie.

Anything released during the first couple of years of the pandemic get asterisks next to their earnings, especially any movies that went to a streaming service shortly after release. If Shang-Chi had come out in 2019, it would have made double that in the theaters.

Okay what was the marketing budget for Shang Chi?
Between 11.2 and 15 mil.

I'm actually not even sure what the argument is anymore; it's nearly impossible to say that the number of Youtube views for one channel, for the first trailer, of a movie that is 8 months out, is indicative of how much trouble that movie might be in.

It seems like a 'sour grapes' argument, I just don't see what would have caused the enmity.

This is as good a thread as any to wonder this aloud: will the movie logo/font be used on products going forward to help tie them together? Or just on actual movie tie in products (which MUST be a thing, right?)

Im betting on side products like a beginners box and board games will have the font to start. Go from there.

I would think that they would keep them separate so movie related/movie specific merch would be easily noted/differentiated.

And there will definitely be moichendise!! They already announced a Gelatinous Cube toy from Hasbro Pulse that is scaled to hold a 6" action figure. So we know at least there will be a range of 6" figures. I'm guessing those will be similar in quality, detail and price point to the 6" Black Series line for Star Wars, since those are Hasbro as well.
