So someone tells Max that he wants non-counterspellable spells. Max replies, nope, I'm fine with counterspell. Then someone else says, but you can't counterspell it.... Good gracious people, can we not just take something as given? Max said he's fine with abilities being countered, rather than kvetching over details about how that works, why not talk about the actual mechanics.
Personally I'd rather design the class powers so counterspell isn't an issue, but you'd probably lose a lot of the historical abilities that way. I'm fine with that, but it's not everyone's cup of tea.
