Heroes of Battle

And if you're happy with that, more power to you.

Some people want hard rules. Some people just want suggestions or advice. Some people feel they can do a good job on their own, but want to see if they can do it even better with additional information.

I can't imagine why you're bothered by the fact that some people want this book.

Oh I'm not bothered by people buying this book, heck I might buy it myself once it goes into the bargain bin.

Anyway, to me, coming up with some kind of rules of war is not to tough. Hopefully the book will include Rules of Engagement to hamstring the players attempt to pacify a country for what ever warlord that they work for.

At the risk of sounding snarky- could this perhaps be related to your title and avatar implying a military background?? ;)

Actually, of all the books WotC has released since the 3.5 core, this one has me interested the most. I'll be buying it.

Mind you, the Spell Compendium this December promises to be the new "must have" at the game - but a book like Heroes of Battle is exactly what I've been looking for as a DM.

Coincidentally, WotC put up their top 10 reasons to buy this book today:

Being a fan of DDM skirmish, I'm curious to see what these morale rules and victory points are all about. The expansion of the Leadership feat sounds interesting, but I'm hoping to see rules for using/creating "Commander Effects" similar to those introduced in DDM.

The most interesting piece is the teamwork benefit; looking forward to seeing what it's about.

Read it, and still don't get what this book is really supposed to be about.

(blinks)

Um...per chance, you couldn't tell me if there's a nifty artillery-mage PrC in there, could you?

Please?

Pretty please?

Hi ya-

Not to be offensive, but what ever happened to people using their imagination? Must every detail be spelled out for people? Your characters wanna go to war? Then involk fear DC's vs large armies charging them, you want military missions? Escort a caravan through suspected insurgent turf. Set-up delayed blast fireballs on the road side vs the PC's, have suicide cultists armed with disintergration elixers charge the players as they patrol the streets of a resently captured city or town.

Scott

Not to be offensive also, but there is always the option of not buying a book you don't need.
Or not using part of it that dosn't fit in your campain.
