As for the weird symbol, it was also located in the pool at the girl's house...
I also think we may have already seen a super villain. In episode 1. On the cover of the comic book that the boy was reading...

When the cop gets a talking-to, they're standing next to a pool (which you could see more clearly at the beginning of that scene.

I was rather disappointed in the episode up until the last two minutes, now I'm hooked.

I also loved the reference to Hiro having a membership in the "Merry Marvel Marching Society". That was the Marvel Comics fan club back in the 1960's and very early 1970's!

Odds that the show makes it past Year 1 : Even. If they can maintain the audience, and not drop off too badly once Twenty-Four comes on in January...
