I like the chick with the Fight Club alter-ego. I kinda recognise her. What show was she in?

Her name's Ali Larter, IIRC, and the most visible thing she's been in recently would probably be the first two "Final Destination" movies.

Though she did also appear a good while back in "Varsity Blues" dressed in nothing but whipped cream...

Ahem.

I've liked the show a lot so far - I don't mind a slower pace, as long as it's clear that it's actually building towards something, and I like both the cast and the writing. It's also nice that they haven't gone overboard and thrown in tons of unnecessary special effects.

Although the voice-overs remind me of the X-Men movies a bit too much, and are somewhat out of place, and I wish all the genetics hoopla was even farther in the background, even if it's pretty inoffensive by TV science standards. (no triple-stranded DNA so far, at least)

Spoilers below:

How much you want to bet that the Professor's apartment is bugged, and the bad guys get the thumb drive sooner than later?

My spoileried response:

My guess is that the cute little brunette is a bad guy. Here presence at just the right time and sacharaine level sweetness make me immediately suspicious. I bet she turns on him in 3... 2... 1...

Excellent second episode. I am hooked.

A quick look on Wikipedia reminded me where I remember her from: One of the jewel thieves in Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back.

okay Thumbs down on the overly dramatic voice over at the beginning

I rather liked it, m'self. It is a fairly standard sort of thing from the comic-book genre, and I like the homage to the show's roots.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned it yet, but we've all been thinking Peter is empathic... but based on tonight it seems he actually borrows or mimics powers, a la Rogue. Not only with his brother, but also he was doodling the little picture of the future in his bed, like Isaac. To me, that was the most unexpected thing about the episode.

It is very standard for the genre, I just thought the writing of it and the execution seemed a little cheesey. But that is my only complaint about the show so far.

I was rather disappointed in the episode up until the last two minutes, now I'm hooked.

I also loved the reference to Hiro having a membership in the "Merry Marvel Marching Society". That was the Marvel Comics fan club back in the 1960's and very early 1970's!

Interesting. I noticed the picture at first and just thought he was drawing what he thought had already happened with his brother and/or him flying. Then after I saw the picture the second time after the levitating incident I didn't have time to think that he had drawn the future.

So is it possible that he has access to everyone's powers? If so, it won't be hard to see it progress as the season continues. So far each person's schtick is pretty unique and obvious (at least to the viewer). Would be very interesting if he could manifest many powers, either singly or multiple at once.

It would also seem that super-baddie has at least two powers - a freezing effect and either super-strength or telekinesis (the latter being more likely, IMO).

Now, the real question is, what caused his dreams? Is that an inherent ability he has, frustration over not using an ability, or a manifestation of a third person's power?

Couldn't there just be a second supper-baddy or a super-minion?
