Oh, please. If you are trying to protect people from their own judgement, there are many worse shows that Chuck, which is just a ton of fun with some great eye candy thrown in.

Sorry, Chuck is too good to let go. Let's drop American Gladiator instead.Felon said:I pray to whatever entities of light or darkness will answer that Chuck be a casualty of the strike. Sometimes people have to be protected from their own judgment.
Seems to me that when a thoroughly uninspired and formulaic show with by-the-numbers characters and tired, repetitive jokes and dumbed-down plots being kept around, it is bad news for everyone. It means the audience hasn't become nearly as savvy as we'd like to think. :\LightPhoenix said:Sorry, bad news for you... it's already been announced as renewed.
Man, just last week, you were giving Xena a hard time for its sporadic sillyness. The only remotely entertaining quality that can be ascribed to Chuck is "sillyness". What gives?Ranger REG said:Sorry, Chuck is too good to let go. Let's drop American Gladiator instead.
Easy. Xena started off as a serious character (a former villain of Hercules) who got silly later in the series.Felon said:Man, just last week, you were giving Xena a hard time for its sporadic sillyness. Call me a non-savvy watcher, but I watch things like Chuck because it entertains me. I don't think that the characters are tired and by-the-numbers. The characters may not be 100% three dimensional, but they are growing.Felon said:Seems to me that when a thoroughly uninspired and formulaic show with by-the-numbers characters and tired, repetitive jokes and dumbed-down plots being kept around, it is bad news for everyone. Chuck is average looking and not as good looking as some of the men most women like. Chuck, in good shape? I'm not so sure about that. He's probably above average height for a male, and as for being an unhygenic slob, he's got a job and you don't keep a job for long if you look like you have not showered in a few days and smell like you just ran a marathon in 100+ degree heat without deodorant on.Felon said:Maybe there's something I'm missing. Help me over the first obvious hurdle: what makes Chuck a believable nerd? He's good-looking. He's in good shape. He's tall (or at least not short). He's not an unhygenic slob or anything. He's mildly awkward in social situations but he's not anti-social. Do people find Chuck a believable nerd just because he's presented as such by the premise of the show?
Whatever floats your boat. A serial killer as a coroner does not appeal to me, but I suppose there are people out there that find that sort of thing intresting.Felon said:All this love for Chuck makes my brain feel unclean. I think I'll go jump back in the Dexter thread.![]()
Hmm. OK, there are two possibilities here. Either A) you live in Los Angeles, Manhattan, or someplace else where professionally photogenic people blow the curve for "average-looking", or B) you have been successfully hoodwinked by the "Chuck" premise that the definition of an average-looking guy is "a really good-looking guy who doesn't know how to use hair product". Chuck's the male version of the Hollywood cliche about the nerdy girl who turns out to be a hottie once she lets down her hair and takes off her glasses.Mr. Beef said:Chuck is average looking and not as good looking as some of the men most women like.
That's a curious assertion to make considering that all it takes to debunk it is evidence of one slob holding down a job. He's probably above average height for a male, and as for being an unhygenic slob, he's got a job and you don't keep a job for long if you look like you have not showered in a few days and smell like you just ran a marathon in 100+ degree heat without deodorant on.
The question at hand is, how is he a nerd to begin with?I think he's a believeable nerd because he is overcoming his nerdyness in litte bits and pieces.
