Heward's Haversack capacity

Huh?

You can pull out an item as a free aciotn but what if its a wepaon it slips aorund in your hand until it becomes a move equivlent aciotn unless you have quick draw? I don't get it. I'm not doubting you I just don't get the logic.

Keep in mind you can't put anything *sharp* in the MMM at risk of puncturing it. So if you pull a sword out of it, it'll be in it's sheath, and you still need to use a MEA to actually "draw" it.

I'd let you get away with "quickdrawing" blunt weapons though...

What about a cross-bow?

How does one adjudicate cubic feet anyway? Cross-bow = 2? Is there a reference/guideline/formula somewhere, or do dms just wing it as usual?

Is it possible to have a Hewards Handy Rucksack?

Virtully the same item, but instead of being a backpack, it'd hang by your side.

I'm just asking because I plan on selecting this magic item for a character of mine, and I think a rucksack would just look cooler.

If I were DM in that case, I wouldn't sweat the way the straps were connected. I'd let a PC have a HHR instead ;)

My Kobold Wizard (strength 4) pretty much lives out of his Hewards Handy Satchel (side hanging model). It's the perfect scroll and trinket organizer!

With regards to drawing weapons, I aways call it a move-equivalent when I prepare my crossbow. Sure you can get it into your hands for free, but it's probably upside down or backwards.

As for what all can fit space-wise, if the mouth of the sack is 8 inches by 18 inches, then the space would be 8 feet deep (luckily, whatever you need is right on top :). In my mind, I picture it more like a 1x2x4 foot cabinet (plus the smaller side areas).

ARE YOU INSANE?! If you let them have a Hewards Handy Rucksack, you totally ruin the alliteration of the Hewards Handy Haversack! Heward did not spend his career exploring the magical aplications of extra-dimensional spaces and the storage capabilities thereof to just have some upstart young wizard come along and turn his Haversack into a Rucksack!

Now if he wants a Rel's Ready Rucksack, that's a different matter. You could even have a Rel's Ready Beltpouch if you wanted. Or a Rel's Dandy Backpack.

I'm a lot more laid back about this sort of thing than Heward.

:D

I need more sleep.

According to m-w.com, a haversack is "a bag similar to a knapsack but worn over one shoulder." So the HHH already hangs by your side.

It says a rucksack goes across your back, which is just what you don't want.

Aren't synonyms fun? :D
