Hey, waaaaaait a minute. (Banshrae)

Maybe they use the same hole for both. Which would make them the cruelest joke the gods ever played!

Cnidarians (sea anemone and coral polyps) do this. A unidirectional digestive tract was a radical invention of the echinoderms (starfish and sea urchins) and worms; it proved quite popular.

I don't see how lizardfolk could possibly purse their basically non-existant lips, yet they use blowguns as well.

Perhaps some monsters simply blow.

Demonweb's Banshrae miniature was made taking 3.5 version (with the flute) on consideration.

The fluff guy should have talked to the artist, as for the monster per se... :)

Previous explanations include a primitive form of bellows, as well as a sophisticated mouthpiece that seals the lizard's lipless mouth and enable them to blow.

Though farting is also a good explanation.

you people scare me. :P

(note i have not seen the creature -- don't have ddi nor do i have any books handy, so basing statement off the posts in this thread).

The creature still breaths somehow, does it not? Even if just sucking in air through it's skin membrane (which would act as a filter) it would need to breath out somehow too -- perhaps a space in its skin membrane is a bit more pourous -- and it's not so much a blowgun in the strictest sense, but rather the concept of blowing a lot of compressed air and some debris out of its pours (and maybe that pour looks a little spiny or dart shaped itself)...or it is a nose.. or whatever it is it uses to breath in (and out) that allows the air pressure force to use some projectile weapon.

Yes yes yes, Im sure we can come up with a rational explenation, but why bother when you too can have in your game the image of a monster shoving a pipe up its rear then projecting at the players.

I tell you, it will be the best RPG moment you will ever have

Wait, you play RPGs for creativity, fun, excitement, and memorable moments rather than rational explanations and/or realism?! What the heck is wrong with you?!
