High level druid tactics

Reverse Gravity ain't all that.

By this level, enemies that can fly or teleport are common. And in the typical dungeon setting, the distance the enemy falls is small, even insignificant.
In my experience it's even worse than that. One wiz/src with featherfall will render this spell largely ineffective.

Animal growth on a roc? Now that's just silly. With my augment summoning, we're talking a grapple check of +37 (base) +4 (increased size) +4 (increased str from animal growth) +2 (augment summoning bonus), or +47. Oh yeah--ain't nobody escaping from my bird! It could easily pick someone up in one claw, take the -20 grappling penalty in order to keep attacking wtih the other talon and bite, and still have the enemy pinned. Nifty.

Hyp, those are some good ideas for improving my AC. I was actually looking at tortoise shell last night in Complete Divine; but I don't own the book and am unlikely to be buying new gaming books any time soon. In any case, our party has got two excellent melee fighters, so I'm really trying to focus on extending my abilities into the other realms, the blaster and summoner and battlefield control.

That said, dinosaurs are definitely an option: a T-Rex sure looks like fun, and I look forward to turning into one at the earliest opportunity :D.

I was flipping through Magic of Faerun yesterday and ran across the Bombardment spell, an eighth-level druid spell that causes rocks to fall on and bury opponents. It does 1d8 points of damage/level ("Maximum 10d8) and buries targets until they spend a full-round action climbing forth.

It looks like a great idea for a spell (and really in keeping with my earth-magic theme), but that damage seems bogus. Why would you have a spell that can be cast at minimum level 15 do 1d8 damage/level, max 10d8? Why not just say it does 10d8 damage?

I looked at MaoF errata, but there's none for this spell. Has it appeared in any 3.5 materials, and if so, is it better written than this?

8th level spells

It does occur to me that a creature under the influence of Reverse Gravity is airborne, making them more vulnerable to your summoned Air Elementals because of their air mastery.
Does anybody have any thoughts about Reverse Gravity affects arrows or other missles that fly through it?

Tortoise Shell, Complete Divine - Drd 6, +7 enhancement bonus to Natural Armor for two and a half hours.

Downsides - it slows you down as though you were wearing heavy armor, and it isn't core.

Alternatively, get yourself some Wild armor!

Er by the level he's at won't barkskin be giving +5 enhancement bonus to natural armour anyway ? without the speed penalty?

For a spell 4 levels higher than barkskin, thats particularly unimpressive ...

Right! I'd forgotten (!!) about that one.....what high level mage goes without the spell?

Although Barkskin has maxed out by that point, and Tortoise Shell hasn't.

Yes, check out Player's Guide to Faerun. Ups the damage to max of 20d8.

Excellent--thanks! Although it's conjuration (creation), and it allows spell resistance. I though conjuration (creation) never allowed SR?

It's eighth level, and has a 15' radius AoE. Compare to horrid wilting, which does 1d6 damage and has essentially a 30' radius AoE, but can be targeted at certain creatures instead of affecting an area, which is usually a huge advantage.
