There you are - I thought you'd succumbed to the dark forces of NKL for a minute there I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, then, and hope you get it.
and yes, I really do have windows open to ENWorld, NKL, and Randomling's House at the same time
I read Jhereg a long time ago and really liked it, especially Loiosh (is that right?). Unfortunately, I never found any of the other books or time to read them and they fell off my radar until you just reminded me...
What was the first book in the series? I'll have to go look it up.
I think Jhereg was the first one,it has been a long time for me also.I know orca is another title,phoenix,mmmm....god I am having a major brain freeze.
I re-read The Paths of the Dead which made me go and pick up Issola again. My admiration for Mr. Brust's writing knows few, if any, bounds.
Sniktch -- the series is as follows:
Jhereg
Yendi
Teckla
Taltos
Phoenix
Athyra
Orca
Dragon
Issola

I think. I might have missed one in there. You can get the first three in a single volume, these days. They're every single one of them spectacular achievements. It's a joy watching Mr. Brust push his own abilities and his intelligence and the thoroughness of his created world.
As you're reading those you should check out his Phoenix Guard novels:
The Phoenix Guard
Five Hundred Years After
The Paths of the Dead

Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. Historical romances written by one Paarfi of Roundwood, who is a historian IN the world Vlad lives in. So these are books written for people in that world, about THEIR historical figures, translated into English. It's utterly brilliant. And hilarious.
He has not yet written a book that was not worth reading. Go, find them, buy them and read them. Tad Williams said, "Steven Brust might just be America's finest fantasy writer." I go further -- Steven Brust is one of the finest writers in the English language right now. He combines unparalleled technical skill with perfect comic finesse, profound empathy and thoughtful intelligence on the experiences that make us human.
