That's the part I'm curious about. The way its done.

Polyhedron style? More akin to a book, with chapters and the like? Or a single piece, broken only by headings?

Probably Poly style.... or the same way the mini-campaign settings are done in Dragon. Of course, you should aim for better :)

I do like mini-games, though :) If you can make it sound more like a new game than a new campaign setting, I'm much more interested.

You mean like the alternative ruled V for Victory (or Dogface) from the last Dungeon/Polyhedron? If only we had the time to develop that. I would love to create a whole new system of play for this genre, but I'm afraid it would not happen in time. Also, Badaxe Games should have a ruleset out within the year.

I think my sight is broken. :) I will have to take my polyhedrons on the trip then, so I can improve upon Mr. Noonan's style.

The poly games are a bit of a mixed bag. Those I've seen as new games (Pulp Heroes, SHadow chasers, CAnnonball Run and one or two others) have appealed to me more than the add ons for modern (The mech issue left me irritated, frex).

I agree you probably can't do a whole new rules set, but for some reason the mini campaign never does it for me. I either want more or less, not in between.

You know, I didn't like Cannonball Run, or the Mecha game. Pulp Heroes, Shadowrun, and V for Victory have been my favourites.

I think I'll also take along a copy of Hollowfaust, to see how a "city book" is structured, and find some way to make that formula fit the mini-setting/game.

One of the things that always seems a necessity to an alt-game is the new classes, or variant core classes. That might not be a bad idea, but its done so often, and rarely well. As it is I only have on alternative class in my head, the Ne'er Do Well, essentially a dilletante with no scruples, or one who passes them off as such.
