Cheers! :) How did you get hold of the quote if the last thread mystically disappeared?

Blah, phone calls  Carni, I just hit 'Back' in my browser until I got the page again (it was still in my temp files).

Tallarn: I used to stock up on defense until the new rules, now its offense all the way, baby. Only people much smaller than you can attack if u have no items, and they have no reason to if you spend/deposit most of your money, as their will be fatter targets available.

Carni again: Yeah, this is the Outwars stuff. I seem to have triggered a gang war by telling someone not to attack my crew again - they hit me 7 times last night (I defended a few successfully, though), and stole a bunch of stuff from me, so now we are going to dedicate ourselves to running them into the ground :D

Ah, now I remember the post I was submitting when the thread disappeared - I sold all my defense gear and loaded up on offense. So now I am able to hit the bigger members of this crew with a reasonable chance of success and I'm too small for them to retaliate - I am 'outside their attack range'

this reminds me of an odd strategy i was told about recently: some friends of mine were toying with player vs payer battletech and were attempting to choose how to distribute their monay or points for best strength. one of them, a logistician, wrote a computer program to choose the most effective distribution.

it said "buy all untrained infantry"

now, at this point he started examining his program for errors and finding none he decided to risk the strategy.

he blew everyone off the map. untrained infantry vs battlemechs and he almost always won.

sometimes there are things that make sense in a game system that do not work (ie- the cheapness of untrained infantry) but you are gonna get your tushy reddened trying to figure out what they are :)

Oh, yeah! :D

It's just that the internet's not free at the moment so I can't be here for long. But in three hours I can be online with no strings attached!

Are you enjoying it Dink? (And can I call you Dink? It's a good name and short to type.)

Dink works for me. Yes, I'm enjoying it. Good stuff simply explained. That's hard to find.

I can believe that, Clay. I was frustrated once in 40K because it seemed like everyone always had these super-mega-cheesy combos of characters and wargear that were very hard to stop...

I finally countered by converting my army to a single general character with 10 points of wargear and the rest was all spent on basic troops (with a couple of elite units thrown into the mix)...

My battles started to be 70-100 of my troops versus 10-25 uber-cheesed troops. Anything that was too difficult to kill I could easily contain with minor losses. I didn't lose another game of 40K for over a year. :D

(and actually, I only started losing battles again when I started to get very experimental with the game. I even won 5 of 5 matches at the first US Grand Tournament)

If I had enough money and space and time I'd love to get back into WH40K, or even the Epic scale stuff.

I used to have something like 28000 points of Epic scale troops, across nearly all the available races. :D

I had Titan LEGIONS, man.

How *do* I go about joining Outwars?

:D

click the link for Tallarn in my sig, then sign up underneath! it all becomes clear very quickly.

That way, whenever you get extra people, I will, and sniktch will too! Extra helpful!
