The only other observation I can see on most of your posted pencil stuff is that you look to be using only a #2 pencil.
You'd be amazed how much change having a nice set of graphic pencils can do for your shading and line depth. You can only get a certain range from a standard pencil..

Well I also invest in nice Sakura pens. They're expensive but come in a varying point range for outline and detail work..
I used to do a lot of work waiting for birds as well, but the dust always got into my sketch pads and the pencils got lost alot. So I suspended most of my flightline artwork for downtime between inbound flights: Then again I doubt you're waiting for the aircraft for the same reason I was..

Me? Not really. I just have more time for some things than I do for others. I actually had a whole three hours to spend on the Water Spirit! But now I'm on vacation, so I'm gonna do some all-day pictures for once. Though I still have to work on some EPRs. Go figure...working on the off-time.
