Speaking of the South, I lived in Atlanta GA for a year and it was great. Service is MUCH friendlier than in Canada in just about any of the service industries... And prices were good.

But the rednecks...

(twitching... remembers being hit by a car with a union jack on the grill... on purpose... crazy redneck had it in for me)

Hey John!

Well I'd have about 3 weeks, so I could get a few places in. Dropping in on internet friends would probably be my first priority, but considering the locations of all my friends - Vermont, Massachussets, Maryland, Kentucky (is that right Clay? Or Mississippi? I forget), Ohio, Chicago, various bits of California, Texas, Minnesota and Washington state - I won't get them all in. I do have some clue that the US is a pretty big place...

Any ideas?

Well, naturally you'll probably get advice to visit all sorts of places. :)

I'd like to plug Chicago (which I'm not from but grew up a mere 120 miles from). You could use that as a base to visit various poeple, probably, and (relatively nearby) Wisconsin and Minnesota are beautiful in the warmer months. (take insect repellant--the joke is the mosquito is Minnesota's state bird :D)

My favorite place to visit in the states in NYC, but that obviously depends on what you're looking for.

Do you think the HIVE will ever transcend the need for EnWorld and become a true hivemind? I think that once we seperate from Piratecat's brain such goodness could happen.

This could be done through a dedicated client chat software... something like ICQ, but set up on a private network server for the Hive.

HIVECQ?

I was REALLY disappointed by NYC, actually.

I've visited there 4 or 5 times in my adult life, and was always underwhelmed.

Total aside: I am currently polishing up the Necromancer's Legacy web-enhancement... and I MUST say, the 3.5e StatBlock format is WAY, way, way, way, WAY superior to the 3e statblock format.

Well, if I go the camp counselor route, I'll see NYC anyway, as I'd be flying in and out there. (And apparently, get taken to camp by Greyhound. Dear God, I hope the camp isn't in California.)

I would definitely love to see the Lakes (or some of 'em). I also want to see New England, for some reason I have a yen to visit Boston. Also Nothern California is a place I would love to go to. But I want to go everywhere, is the problem! And that ain't gonna happen in three weeks. Hm, two and a half states a day, I think not.

Yeah, but I'm not looking forward to editing all the NPCs in my campaign setting. Maybe I can get one of my players to do it for some xp and pizza ;)

Publishing the campaign setting? If not, don't bother updating the statblock format... it's not THAT big of a deal, just saves on some on-the-fly math for stuff like Grapple bonuses...

Aww c'mon! Greyhounds are fun! And they smell like movie theater bathrooms! Who could pass THAT experience up?
