Well, I'm thinking of doing a US trip next summer. I'll be a camp counselor and afterwards I would have about 3 weeks to kill. Figured I would drop in on some friends.

Well, this is still all hugely hypothetical. There's no way I'm going to have the money to do it this summer, so it'll have to be next (after very careful budgeting for a year and a couple of part-time jobs... oh yeah, I have a degree to finish too... hm). So there's no details yet. But it will be 9 weeks of camp followed by 3 weeks of total freedom to roam the US as I see fit (before flying home from New York).

But I'm hoping to get a good job this summer. I'm online writing lots of applications now.

Absolutely.

I'm (hopefully) being given a research project to do which will pay me about £500. I figure if I can save half of that, I'll be well on my way to making things like deposits, registration fees, airport tax and Visa processing fees.
