Hello Hive... The debate is over I think... I have failed.

But the poll shows like 80% at least voting in favor of the topbar in some form or another. Guess I'll have to read the thread to see what happened. I was one of those who voted that it should be optional...

Oh, yeah, Hi randomling :) I'm getting bad about greeting people :o

Good statement, Bulak. Sometimes I think an IMO should be tagged to every post lest we forget (and I've forgotten before, too).

I think I'll choose to stay out of the other thread, but personally, I have no problem with playing different sexes and have seen it done both well and poorly. I think I play an excellent female character - as an example, I run a female bard on a MUD and usually people are stunned when they find out I'm really a man.
Well, I don't think it's necssary to post IMO in every post (although I tend/try to do it a lot too), as long as you know you're only posting your personal opinion. That's what bothered me about some posters in that thread, just as bothered Ashwyn (apparently).

And my thoughts on the issue itself, which I did not post there, are mixed. I think one can play a character of the opposite sex as long as it's done good. And I mean, you look at the person, and just by his/her acts you know he/she plays the other gender. Because normally, you assume the opposite (at least I do).
If seen it done very good, but I've seen it done very bad too. I've never tried it myself, but I think I wouldn't be very good at it, so I'll just stay male :) .

Yep, that's pretty much what bothered me. I try to go on a person by person basis. I've had several experiences in my short life span that have shown me that people are people and all are capable of being nice or nasty.:)
