btw: When do you guys have your big outdoors party? I am still deciding when would be a good time for my road trip, and I might be able to combine it .

Oh Man, Hound... I'll have to warn Maldur next weekend about the dangers of that party!!! His life could depend on it! ;) :)

Nothing I can throw into the idea of the WH40k modern game except to make sure you have a copy of the original Rogue Trader which had all the cool background information on the world and made you REALLY want to run a game in that universe.

on second thought...

Make sure to include Genestealer corruption / cults, unexplained biotech, and a few rogue psyckers. Ther genestealer cult would make a great long-term villain, slowly building up in power as the players do.

I've got Rogue Trader :D

I'm pondering two ideas for starting the campaign:

1) The party are a group of trouble-shooting Imperial agents working for a Governor or Admiral, a mix of grunts, tech-priests and spies.

2) The party are the crew of a free trader spacecraft.

I'm planning to have the campaign start with a focus on a particular planetary system, leading up to the discovery on one of the moons of an outer planet of alien/high tech ruins and archaeology. Then I'll introduce some Death Guard plague marines... :D Then see how things go (if the party survives! :) ).

we have a party for every season here at the pharm.
next one up is HoundCon2.0, friday, october 31st (watch for a thread about just this). after we get back from taking the gelflings out begging for sugar from strangers, we sit down to a full turkey dinner, with lamb curry on the side, then start up a bonfire. around midnight we burn letters to the dead.

then it's winter solstice just before christmas (stay up all night long for the longest night of the year celebrating dionysus' birthday)

then orthodox easter (making perogi from scratch, eating and drinking eastern europpean traditional foods and vodka, decorating ukrainian eggs) in march or april (i have no idea when it is in 2004)

then the freak family picnic and enpublishing company party... although this year it'll be the long weekend at the beginning of july (usually it's summer solstice, but we'll be in cape cod that week)

but maldur, anytime you come down, we'll be sure to throw a party!

thx, Dextra. I have no clue yet on the how and when for next year. But as Im working a serious amount of overtime, it looks like Ill have a nice amounts of vacation days next year :)

Hehe Yeah Jason told me about a few of the party occasions on the Pharm when I met up with him this Spring. Shame we didn't get a chance to meet Dextra... although the world is small so I am sure it is only a matter of time :D.

Most likely! to use a Clayism: "they are good peoples"
:D

Its a shame I was in a record as much information as possible mood at gencon, I must looked like a real doufus.

But I did get to meet large amounts of people, It will be different next time :)
