I have already say once and I'll say it again as many times as neccessary. The most uselful item is the codpiece of storage...

Imagine the scene:

A muscled barbarian, naked besides a loincloth and a codpiece, surrounded by orcs. The barbarian has no weapons, and seems doomed.

Then, without any fear, he carries his hand over his codpiece.

"If you don't flee now, orc scum, I will take out Bob and I'll stick it in your orcish butts. Bob is hard and long, always ready."

The orcs roll on floor laughting, until the barbarian put his hand inside the codpiece and take out...

a migthy +3 keen vorpal longsword.
