Mornin' Hive.

Had a panic Friday when it looked like all the data on my computer for my campaign had been wiped out -- years of work turned into unreadable goo.

Fortunately, Brave Software Developers came to my rescue and restored my data eventually. Phew! Lesson learned -- don't record your campaign notes in any application that saves text as binary data. Keep text as text!

So now I want to write my own DM Organizer tool. Nothing fancy, just a file browser linked to a rich text editor so you can browse a directory, click on an RTF file and display its contents in an editing window, edit and save. Create RTF files at specified points in the file system and heck, that's about it. I'm kind of surprised such an application doesn't exist, frankly.

...and always keep a printed hard-copy! Back-ups can and will fail sometimes; paper is still the safest form of storage IME.

Whew I almost had a heart attack when I heard of your computer problems Barsoomcore.It is still beating wildly and irregularly......I am so glad you got everything back.I just had some wicked problems myself and lost a lot of stuff.

I am doing pretty good sniktch thanks for asking,aside from losing my original iron entry.I only had like a hour to work on the one I posted,which I did about a hour and a half ago.So it is not that great, but I guess just turning something in is better than nothing.I really am not happy with it though.I mean you can tell when viewing it that it was thrown together speedily and on the fly. Oh well....hey is that grandfather of attack charges on jimi hendrix crew today or tomorrow?

I tend to agree; turning in something is much better than defaulting, which isn't fair to you, the judges, or the opponent.

And yeah, the attack was tomorrow when Tallarn is back online, although I am getting mighty impatient - I have 600+ attacks saved up. And man, speaking of Tallarn, I've been banking his cash for him while he's away, and he has like $2 million banked now. He should just go shred the big guys on our list, or wait a few more days and buy a plasma shield or something...
