Half of that went on her bow: +1 mighty composite longbow that allows a strength bonus of +3.
you may want to consider spending your money differently. a mighty composite bow (+3) is only 400 gp and a Quiver of Ehlonna is really handy for an archer

How much is that? Don't have my DMG on me!

I figure her weapons are at least masterwork.

1800 gp

can hold 60 arrows (3 gp), plus extra bows (and/or javelins, spears, etc.)

and technically a mighty composite bow is masterwork. i wouldn't worry too much about an extra +1 to hit unless the item is magical. she is a fighter, after all (with a great BAB)

If your off into the wilds the best item is still the ring of sustenance. for about 1200 gp you dont need to eat and hardly need to sleep. great stuff for a mercenary on the move!

Combine that with a couple of sheafs of arrows and a good bow and your in business.

REad Bernard Cornwells Grail quest series. Its about a longbowman and it does tell a lot about the military archer. (like a archer doesn't use a quiver, as arrows bounce out when you run!)
great stuff!

Hmmmmmmmmmm.

I can almost picture Thana being not at all big on the magic of any kind. Not distrusting it or anything -- just not knowing a huge deal about it, having never really had the money for it. The magic she does have, she probably doesn't really know about. (Maybe she has a magic ring, for example, but doesn't realize it's magical. A gift from someone, for example.)

It means I can't buy an awful lot of magic (which I couldn't have done anyway). Money goes on the house, maybe on a Ring of Protection +1, and everything else is masterwork and good quality gear.

I know it's not the most powerful way of building the character, but it might make for an interesting character who suddenly comes up against more money and magecraft than she knows what to do with...

Love the look of the new character, Lucy! Great plot, and she has a great reason to be in Whiteon, of course :D

did you read my account in the SH?

I think you should save the money on the +1 bow and go masterwork for now...and don't forget to check S'mons website to see which God/dess she follows...

What about alignment? Any chance she's a follower of Girru? :)

not a bad idea, but i would still consider buying some some basic magic goods goods (armor, the quiver, etc.). you don't need to know how magic armor works, just that it does work :D

She's NG and no doubt follows Carthea (being Lilliana's cousin and all).

Yeah, I saw the account in the SH. Poor Maryse. Squish!!

You know, she's going to be quite well kitted out! All kinds of useful things in Thana's backpack. Plus she has her own house and I think she's just been paid quite well. :D

She's going to be quite excited by the idea of magic. And all that money!!! (You know that stash of several thousand platinum pieces we found? One of those could keep Thana and her family for a quarter-year!)

orginally said by Terry Pratchett
"Magic armour is notoriously unreliable on the Discworld. Many an evil Overlord's last words have been "You can't kill me I've got invulnerable ar...arrrrgh!"

Of course, the above is not true in D&D, luckily for us.
