Wonderstuff? They're good I take it?

Early 90's British rock/pop band. Sheer genius. Biggest band in Britain at one stage. Sadly missed.

The Greatest Hits Album is called "If the Beatles Had Read Hunter". Fantastic album.

I can't think who they're like...but if you like somewhat quirky British music by really talented musicians with clever, interesting lyrics, get into the Wonderstuff.

Dizzy! I'm so dizzy!
My head is spinning like a
Whirlpool! It never ends and it's
You girl! Making it spin...you're making me
Dizzy!

First time that I saw girl I knew that I just had to make you mine
But it's so hard to talk to you with fellas hanging round you all the time
I want you for my sweet set but you keep playing hard to get, you're making me

Dizzy! My head is spinning...

Hullo Hive. Randomling's scaring off Carnifex, I see, while Tallarn remains impressed with his own size. Horacio continues being helpful and UnDfind just carries on with general silliness.

...sigh...

Hurrah for the Hive!

So the Mrs and I have decided to take a big chance with our film this weekend -- we're shooting four key dialog scenes and we've decided to shoot them all with a single setup -- no cuts, no close-ups, no camera moves, nothing. Just turn the camera on and let the actors go. We're very nervous but excited at the same time. If it works and the actors kick butt, it'll be great. If it doesn't work, we're hosed.

Our lighting director loves us because this means he can set the lights at the start of the day and basically just go home. Our actors love us because they don't have to worry about eyelines or matching moves or anything like that.

We hate us because we're backing ourselves into a corner, gambling the whole film on the performances of the two actors. But it would just be WRONG to cut into these scenes. WRONG, I tell you.

I hope.

Hurrah for us indeed! :) Of course I'm impressed with my own size...why should I not be?

speaking from an actors point of view (which I can, because I'm an actor :D), that's an amazing amount of trust to put in your people! Hope it comes off OK.

Well, I'm off for food, tidying myself up and a party in South London! Wish me well and I'll see you all tomorrow...

*waves goodbye, exits left, followed by aardvarks*

Very cool, Barsoomcore. If you don't mind me asking, what genre would your film fit into? I know, I hate to pigeonhole any kind of creative work, but I'm interested to see what style you're working on.

The film is the second in a cycle of short films we're planning called "The Slow Stories". The first one, "Me and Slow", concerned a hitman named Max who, in the process of completing a contract, killed a girl who just happened to walk in on the scene. He spends the rest of the film trying to find out who she was and discovers, at the end, that she was the mistress of the biggest crime lord in town. Max's partner is a big quiet fella named Slow Charlie who gets shot as a result of Max' investigation.

It was a black and white noir-ish piece with tough-guy dialog, trenchcoats and fedoras and Massive Attack all over the place.

The new film is called "Cigarette and Whiskey" and is about the crime lord's mistress, a woman known as Cigarette Slim, before she walks in on Max and gets killed. She's pretty unhappy with her life and the film is about a bittersweet fling she has with a dirty cop named Jack "Whiskey" Jameson. The film is structured as a series of drifting memories she has about their relationship as she's in the process of ending it.

It's fun. We have this whole stable of characters with cool names like Jackie Diamond, Artie Grasser, Lady Kate, Minneapolis and Old Sal. There's lots of background story that we've made up and so it's easy to draw stories with really rich backgrounds, even if the films themselves don't show or explain everything that's going on. You just get a sense of a world that's bigger than the story itself.

Blah blah blah...
