Okey-dokey, then. Thanks for that.

I dropped a weight on my toe a month ago. Just lost the toenail.
Yeah, that's much worse. I hope it grows back.

I don't want anyone to think I'm upset about this or anything. Just that I don't plan on using it. jeez.

Can you show me where that's found in what Bruce wrote?
Um, what part of "this doesn't work for my campaign" didn't you get? The flavor's all wrong. You can go combine Flavors A and B if you want to; I'm just choosing not to.

Isn't Bruce working on the adventure mod Keep on the Shadowfell? Could he just be describing an encounter in the mod where hobbos are breeding Watchspiders in the fore mentioned Keep? I don't know if this counts as fluff or spillover from the days writing.

I'm okay with Hobgobs breeding beasts, but my beef with this is why SPIDERS? We have drows using spiders, duergar using spiders, ettercaps using spiders, and we need another evil humanoid breeding spiders? Some sort of boar or great cat would have been much cooler. Or ankhegs!

Well, yes, too many spiders. But maybe this is a way to re-fluff the overabundance of spiders in 3e, rather than re-fluff the hobs. At least that's how I'd think of it.

In 1st (and I believe 2nd) edition, Hobgoblins used carnivorous apes as their warbeasts. And I like to think of them as mongol/samurai oriental hodgepodge types myself.

Everything which helps to differentiate the humanoid races more from each other is gold in my book. For people like me who are not that deep into D&D, most of them are too damn SIMILAR! Give me some stuff like that about the breeding mentioned above in the MM entry, goddamit. I. Want. More. Fluff! In the corebooks.
And breeding is a highly sophisticated action which needs lots of discipline. It´s not "just throw things into cages and wait until pregnancy happens". It takes planning and brains.

Let me ask you something, and despite my tone I'm being serious here:

WHY DO YOU THINK THAT WIZARDS OF THE COAST MUST WRITE EVERYTHING IN A WAY WHICH "JIVES" WITH YOUR CAMPAIGN?

So your hobgoblins live such a regimented existence that the idea of their conducting breeding experiments, often with only limited success, just doesn't "jive" with the way you imagine them operating.

SO WHAT?

You've taken one direction with the hobgoblins, Wizards of the Coast appear to be taking another. Is it their fault that you've decided that hobgoblins follow a certain lifestyle? No - so why is it A CAUSE FOR COMPLAINT ON YOUR PART that their idea of where to take hobgoblins doesn't "jive" with yours?

Where do you get off deciding that this idea is "wrong" for hobgoblins? It certainly doesn't contradict anything that has ever been officially published about them by Wizards of the Coast - all it contradicts is your interpretation of the basic facts of the race.

WHAT MAKES YOUR IDEAS SO SPECIAL THAT YOU DON'T WANT SOMEONE ELSE'S IDEAS TO BE PUBLISHED?

Explain it to me. I'm all ears.
