I bought Police Investigations and The Mob. I was happy with both books. I'll probably be picking up The Feds next.

I liked the detailed descriptions of the Police and how they are organized. They had classes for cops which I thought would be great NPC's. My group isn't fascinated with playing actual investigators, but if you were, the classes are interesting. It also included new skills and feats specific to police investigations. The book quality was good (but not top of the line); clean black and white print. About 75 pages of content (not counting OGL and indexes.

The Mob was similarly detailed, although I haven't used it as much. Still fun for organized crime type groups.

$18 isn't that much for me, so I thought it was a great deal. For "police" info I've not found a better resource. If you were a budget minded gamer you might shy away from the price and just wing it. But it was a good book for me.

I have Fright Night: Haunted House, which I really enjoyed. If I weren't broke, I'd buy the entire series (I think only one other book is out in it), plus the Crime Scene Supernatural.

I think I have a review of it here. The book is a bit amateurish in places, but well done.

I picked up the Yakuza book.

The exposition text is VERY good, well researched, and up to date. I love it.

The rules text on the other hand, feels... well... kludged.

I really love these books too, and can't wait to pick up the ones that just came out.

But be warned - they are NOT d20 Modern sourcebooks. They are more like stand alone games similar to the mini-campaign settings in the old POLYHEDRON flipsides of DUNGEON Magazine, or FFG's Horizon line. All you need is a PHB to play. They work together, but you don't need all the books in the series to play, and some of the books have some overlap/duplication of material (crunch and fluff).

They also include a huge proliferation of new, highly specialized skills. Some of the uses of these new skills would make excellent new uses for existing d20 Modern skills, however.

I have the Crime Scene: Supernatural but was underwhelmed. This is due to my expectations: I wanted X-Files and it is more CSI: Cults. The book itself is fine if a bit dry. A friend of mine has Crime Scene: The Mob and when I looked through that it looked quite useful.

Their Fright Night Series is looking pretty interesting. I think I'm going to pick up the latest, the mysterious Sub sinking one. (the name of which I just forgot..ack!)

Anyways, that's my 2 coppers.

How do these books compare to the older GURPS Cops book. I thought this was good. If these compare I will buy them immediately. Also, has anyone read the Shadowrun crime book it was OK.
