Holiday caring & sharing

Just thought I would mention something my wife and I did this year that we have not done before.

In the past few years we have at times struggled. The church often helped the kids which i appreciate.

This year we are holding our own and actually advancing on our bills and credit cards.

This is not the case with many people we know. One family in particalar. They have three kids, 3, 10 and 13. We got gifts for each child and gave them our 25 dollar food Gift card so that that could get a special dinner.

It felt good to do this and I can see us doing it again next year.

Has anyone here done this also?

Not that exactly, but we made a donation of hats and gloves to the nurse at our Elementary School... She's always worried about the less fortunate kids who come to school without them.

And while we donate to the food pantries and blood banks year-round, we always make sure to schedule visits for Christmas week.

I donated $1000 to the closest homeless shelter.

The closest homeless shelter to International Falls? That's got to be where... Duluth? ;) :p

Well done, by the way... If only I had a spare grand to donate. It's part of the reason why I frequent blood banks on such a regular basis. Donating blood is a charity I can afford. :o

Ash Wednesday was the 25th. My parents are well off enough to put aside $4000 to donate to the Salvation Army.

Th comes out to $100 a day during lent. I admit that I'm very proud of them for helping out the community like that.

Now that I have survived 10 years since my last Cancer treatment I should look into giving blood.
