Holy Crap I'm Hung Over

Is absinthe legal in Canada?

It was made so a few years ago, at least in Ontario; my girlfriend bought some. Can't say I cared for it much; but then again I don't drink much so what do I know?

Yes, absinthe is legal. It's on lots of menus here in Vancouver.

Burn the little sugar cube... add the water... shoot it down.

Be strong. :D

I've got my Crown Royal Special reserve and bought a bottle 375 ML bottle of Jack Daniels earlier. I'll be getting skunked with my best friend and family on the 25th.

The green fairy made me her [female dog] a couple of times in my vigorous and athletic youth - I can't even imagine that in my present decrepitude.

Damn, I say. Damn.

Honestly, I don't know, but it was not on menus here at all for most of my life. Only recently has it turned up.

I don't know if it was illegal before, but you certainly didn't see it being offered in bars like you do nowadays.

Crown Royal -- nice. I'm a single malt man myself, but there's plenty of very fine blended whiskies, no question. And I've had some fine nights with a glass of Crown or two...

Why wouldn't absinthe be legal?

"Absinthe containing thujone is illegal to sell for human consumption in the United States. Some brands of absinthe are sold in the U.S. which contain no thujone and other absinthes are imported into the U.S. despite FDA regulations. It is not illegal to possess Absinthe, even if it contains thujone."

I don't know how accurate the information is, but I found it here:

I've noticed the same thing. Hangovers are pretty killers nowadays (i'm 26) compared to 18 or 20.

I never had a hangover until the day I turned 18. Before then I'd just wake up with no sense of balance. I wake up after my 18th birthday and -WAMMO-.

I'm willing to believe, however, that there's a "single malt" switch that gets thrown in your head when you hit a certain age.

This year, for the first time ever in my life, I like Scotch. I mean, I'm really liking it, and I used to hate it. Just this year that's completely turned around. Now I'm up for a single malt just about any time.

Maybe not RIGHT NOW, but still. It's weird. Suddenly I'm a Scotch drinker.
