Homunculi Weight

Hey, everyone. I'm playing an Artificer at the moment, and I recently acquired the Craft Homunculus ability. After finally getting around to creating a couple, I realized how awesome they really are. So far, I've made a Dedicated Wright, a Furtive Filcher, and a supped-up Iron Defender (the DM put a disabled one in an adventure, and, after making some skill checks, I was able to re-build parts of it to get it working again). Anyway, I've got a couple questions about them.

1. We've been treating them as Magic Items for purposes of the Artisan feats- my character has all three, and, as a result, was able to make them for 75% of the time, money, and xp of their costs (minus the body material costs, of course). Just to be sure, that IS how they're supposed to be treated, correct? Or did we make a mistake?

2. I'm wondering how much the different Homunculi weigh- in particular, the Furtive Filcher. It's a Tiny construct (18 inches in height), and the main component of its body is "raw shadowstuff from the Plane of Shadow". How much would you say something like this weighs? I was planning on having my character carry it around with all of his gear, so for any practical use, the weight would be a pretty important factor. The DM and I decided on something around 6 pounds (mainly so that nobody in the group would get any ideas to use it as a viable target for Mage Hand or the like), but I wanted to find out if there was some sort of official ruling. Many monsters and such have weights listed, but not any of the Homunculi. Any ideas?

Doesnt matter what it weighs it wont be subject to magehand..that only works on non magical unattended objects.

I would say the critter would weigh less than one pound. If it were iron I would say it weighed 6 pounds , maybe.

We're aware of that, we just don't want anyone to get any ideas. :-P

Anyway, thanks for the suggestion.

I couldn’t imagine shadowy material weighing much so I’d say it would weight a pound at most, if anything at all. My shadow is usually around 5’ long and it doesn’t seem to slow me down one bit. I’m not very familiar with homunculis or "raw shadowstuff from the Plane of Shadow" though.
