Nightfall
Sage of the Scarred Lands
In a completely different vein, I just got hornsaw. Let me say the authors, Joseph Carriker and Rhiannon Louve do a splendid job here. I especially loved Daniel Day's cartography and artwork. The book has the kind of "Forest of Mirkwood" feel, for you tolkien fans only with more emphasis on the possibility of change as well as some fun stuff like new plants, new wood types, new weapons, indeed new races and of course old standbys such as new prestige classes, spells, feats and of course monsters. (I think my favorite has to be the witchspider. Great job!) Oh and you also get insider's view in the various factions trying to establish control inside the forest. From the hornsaw elves with their tribes, some following a vegetarian life style, to the infamous necromancers of Glivid Autel and the Dar al Annot, the cabal of hags, sorcerers and others in the service of the Blood Crone. Really if you wanted a forested region and wanted to know what to have in it, this is the book for you. Oh and the random Wilderness Encounter charts in the back ROCK!
