Horse familiar?

It's too bad nobody ever did stats for Eohippus; that would have made a good familiar. In 3e, it could probably give its master the Dodge feat.

I wonder if a giant could have a horse familiar.

Is there anything official for a horse familiar? I'm playing a level three sorceress and I thought it would be a good type to try. Can anyone help me out?

I think the_orc_within brought up the main point to consider ... a horse could pretty much kick some serious butt against any of the "normal" wizard familiars, some of which do 0 damage with a hit, or no more than 1 damage, while a horse actually gets to roll a die worth of damage, and gets 3 attacks on a full attack action. PLUS you can ride it.

I think the suggestion of NOT getting a special ability (no +2 or +3 to anything) is a good one. If your DM is okay with it, that's cool ... just point out to other players with familiars in your group that they are getting hosed unless they also pick an "upgraded" familiar ... ;)

Well, the thing about it is, I haven't actually been in a situation where the horse would come in handy in a fight, and considering my characters nature she would be doing everything in her power to keep... "Buttercup" out of danger.

Not to mention my DM loves sorcerers and we get the feats Dragon Heritage and Eschew materials as automatic feats. My character has copper dragon Heritage and Dragon breath, so after I spit acid at something there's usually no need for anything else. XD
