House Races

I need some advice on defining some houe rules information. I am setting up an entire campaign in a world of my own design using races of my own. History is complete and in depth. Now I am at the stage of detailing the races listed. Now my question is, how much/ how little information do I need to write up on each race? The group playing or not unfamiliar with fantasy role-playing so are familiar with traditional types of player races, but how do I describe and how much information do I need to correctly detail the races here.

If i were you, I would lift the introduction topics for each class out of the phb and use them for a guideline to do your race right ups. I.e. they discuss abilities, religion, adventurers, relation to other classes (in this instance races), etc. Just apply those ideas to the particular race. I

I.e. they discuss abilities, religion, adventurers, relation to other classes (in this instance races), etc. Just apply those ideas to the particular race. I would also expand upon them some. For instance, instead of just abilities talk about physical characters, appearence, et.c Make sure to include their homelands, habits, and values as a society. Family life/unusual culture tidbits adds something as well (i.e. halflings in my homebrew setting elect their leaders through a annual competition of physical skill and mental ability).

I found that using the PHB outlines for each race worked pretty well. I didn't find that I was writing much in the way of redundant information and it all flowed pretty easily even if I hadn't previously thought of that particular area.

I didn't use to go this in depth with the descriptions of new races, but then my players would bombard me with questions that I hadn't thought the answers to yet. Then they wouldn't even play the new races. This way, they have all the information they want/need and you're more likely they'll choose some of the new races.
