How about an ALT-CLASS site............?

Dagerdiel,
You can submit those classes on the forums at my site and I'll move it over to a more permanent location once I've finished developing the engine.

For alt classes, I think the most applicable would be:
Rangers
Sorcerers
Bards
Monks
Paladins

Well someone has to do the data gathering though.. after doing the Prestige Class and template databases, I can tell you it's a LOTTA work.

With this up and running you might want to e-mail Morrus so he ca n post it on the main page. I know there are many, many people who would be interested in this. It would also help get contriputions. Good luck with this. :)

I agree! An alt.class site would be a great idea. Combined with new classes would be very, very good. I love alts and new cores. They shake up conventional ideas about sword & sorcery.

Ever notice when someone does an alt.race it is called a sub-race?

Are there enough Alternatives?

Hmm.. other than the Ranger, are there that many other variations of the other classes?
After looking around, it seems that the Ranger is the most maligned. Anyway, I've started a thread here to discuss on how to proceed with the site, if at all.

Off the top of my head, variants I've seen or heard of:

Barbarians who are civilized (i.e., berserkers)
Bards without a musical focus (i.e., jacks-of-all-trades)
Bards who specialize in other forms of entertainment (e.g., dance, jesting)
Clerics with less combat ability (not the holy warriors that clerics are)
Sea Druids
Fighter -- hmm, no variants
Monks with fewer special abilities and more feats (i.e., generic martial artists)
Paladins without holy powers (i.e., cavaliers)
Paladins as prestige classes
Psions (more due to modified psi-systems)
Rangers with favored terrains instead of favored enemies
Rangers with bonus feats instead of two-weapon fighting
Rangers with bonus feats instead of spells
Urban Rangers
[other milder ranger variations, e.g. more skill points]
Rogues without sneak attacks (focused on skills)
Sorcerers with spells organized around a theme
Wizards -- no variants I'm aware of

Note that some of these variants are published, so I doubt you could put them online. Yeah, there's definitely a niche for a site like this, that would attract more attention than D&D sites without any focus (and just have some random bits and pieces online).
