How about an EN World Online Gameday?

Mark

CreativeMountainGames.com
The fun and success of the Chicago Gameday 2 got me to thinking that it might be fun to have an EN World Online Gameday. I thought I'd start a thread to see if there was any interest in this sort of thing.

I'd envision a central room/channel such as the EN World dnd3e channel as a rallying point. Then individual channels could be set up for individual games. They could be set with the DMs of the games as moderators of their own channels (along with the highly praised dnd3e moderators, of course.) d20 publishers could also have channels set up to discuss their products to whoever might drop in between games or whenever.

Anyway, just some thoughts about it. Anyone else think this might be a fun idea?

A good idea, methinks, but due to time zone differences, I probably couldn't participate...

Remember it's WORLD wide, so you'll probably play with European players and so on.

Sounds like a good idea but would need preplanning and pre-registering. Don't want to end up playing with or DMing some munchkin.

There's also a dice roll issue. Does the irc channel have a dicebot?

If we use the #dnd3e channel that's the current EN World chatroom, then there is a dicebot.

Mark, sounds like a great idea. Living in England, I can't make it over to the other gamedays, so this sounds like a lot of fun. :)

Sure they can be enabled with DiceBots. They do that now. :)

It would also be a chance for people to play with people from around the world, eh?

How have you been, Jarval? :) It'd be great to get a chance to game with you and some of my other online friends that aren't nearby!

BTW, before it gets brought up here, I know that CyberCon does something like this for a whole weekend, but I'm sure it couldn't hurt to do a Gameday that is on another date than them also.

So long as it's a weekend (and not when I am on holiday dang it!) I'm in. Sign me up for PC's Feng Shui slot ;)... I'm Sure Horacio will say the same were he not on holiday. :D Come to think of it, maybe I'll even run something (CofC perhaps....)

One thing to remember is that online games take significantly longer on most occasions. (Not that I care, more for planning)

You could probably have six hour slots (with breaks, maybe) and run the thing around the clock. I'll bet it would bring a whole different kind of DM out to run games than those at most offline Gamedays. You could even have some speed-posting message board games going... :D

I've been pretty good, thanks :) I've not been in the chatroom much of late, as I've been a bit snowed under with college work (and getting my submission in for the Fantasy Settings Comp, kind of took priority over everything else ;)).

When is CyberCon this time? Whenish are you thinking of having the online Gameday?

Well good luck with college and more importantly, with your submission to the contest! ;)

I don't think they've set a date for the next CyberCon yet, so this would have to be set for a different date once that was found out. It might be an excellent way to give people a taste of how cool CyberCon can be. The more gaming the better, I say! :)
