Well, there is actually one official Adventure League XP reward for out-of-game actions and that is the reward for DMing (see section "Dungeon Master Rewards" here: http://media.wizards.com/2016/dnd/downloads/AL_DMG_SKT.pdf).
So the concept of rewarding "Work" with ingame bonuses at least isn't completely foreign.
That being said, I'd probably not do it for my players. If my players do anything voluntary, like drawing a map or keeping notes, then having that is already a benefit in itself. And I don't really want to make other players feel left out, just because they don't have as much free time or because they absolutely can't draw.
Usually making my players understand that I spend several hours every single day for them to enjoy their adventure is enough for me to motivate them by just saying "If you did that for me, that would really reduce my workload, thanks". (In fact, they are probably more interested in having a motivated and happy DM that does not suddenly disappear because of burnout than getting even 5000 XP.)
