How are knockouts going?

One thing that happens a lot in the average action show or movie is someone getting knocked unconsicous by normal melee damage without huge repercussions. Usually, they get conked by the bad guy and wake up with a nasty headache -- in a few minutes, they're okay to fight, even. Or the heroes win, and someone looks at the conked-out guy and says, "He'll have a nasty bruise when he wakes up, but he ought to be fine."

So far, how is the Fort Save mechanic to stabilize working for people? Does it accomplish this, or do people use something else for when Xander gets knocked across the room by an troll's backhand and has to be woken up later?

I'm considering some kind of house rule to allow bonuses to the save when the Hero gets taken out with Bludgeoning damage -- to allow for conking out without a HUGE risk of permanent damage. But I'm not sure. As much as I WANT people to be able to be knocked out without it being a death sentence (so I can tie them to conveyer belts with sawblades at one end and such), I DON'T want people to get shot repeatedly, eventually lose consciousness, and have people shrug and say, "He'll have a nasty bullet-hole in his torso when he wakes up, but he should be fine."
