How are spiked chains carried?

Got the idea from the "flail" thread.

Those things are nasty, but I'd be way worried about hurting myself half the time!

Drag it behind you and give that first guy you hit with it a nasty shock. hehe

Is spiked chain a historical weapon? If not, I suppose you could carry it any way you wanted. I don't think it actually looks like a very useful weapon.

There are a good many D&D weapons that I don't usually include in my games because they are simply preposterous. Take the "mercurial greatsword" for instance.

PS: Yeah, yeah, it's fantasy; I know. But I like the non-magical parts to be realistic, at least.

Well yes, there are some historical equivalents. They were not nearly as effective as they are in D&D.

I'd think they wouldn't be as hard to use as swordchucks ;)
Awesome! Another 8-bit Fan. But, even sword chucks seem tame when compared to axe chucks, bow chucks, and, the ultimate, chuck-chucks. (all of this is from some special 8-bit thing, not the main story, in case you have no idea what I'm talking about.
