How Are your Books Holding Up?

My DMG is fine, monster manual is okay (a little crappy because CERTAIN PEOPLE can't quite grasp the concept of respecting property that isn't yours) and my PHB is smudged to hell. Whatever. As long as they still serve their purpose.

No problems with the core books, but I've had binding problems (the glue peeling away) on three other books: Adventurer's Vault and 2 Martial Powers (one for myself, the other I bought as a gift). And that's not from use -- all three came that way. I'm trying to deal with WoTC customer service to get them replaced. They said they would, but I have to send them all to WoTC, then wait for them to look them over (to make sure it was a printing defect), and then have replacement copies back to me. Which means I won't have them at the table and to design adventures. Definitely frustrating. I'm shocked that the quality control is so poor. I would understand if this happened with just one book, but three? That's a systemic problem. I hope they get the problem fixed -- I'm hoping to get Manual of the Planes and the Draconomicon for Christmas and I'd be very disappointed if they had the same binding problems....

Between me and my players: 5 PHBs, 1 MM, 1 DMG, 1 FRCG, 1 Draconomicon. 0 problems. In fact, they seem to be weathering better than the 3e books. Might be less looking up rules/spells during play, and using DDI to prep games.

Here's a photo of the Martial Power book. You can see the stitching clearly exposed (actually, this is taken with an iPhone, so it might not be *that* clear). Having worked in publishing for ten years, this doesn't seem normal to me. It worries me that pages will eventually start to fall out.

Edit: Oh, and this is the one that arrived yesterday from Amazon (which I'm supposed to be giving as a gift).

The PHB and MM had wavy pages when I got them in August. Since then everything has flattened out and the books are fine.

My DMG, Adventurer's Vault, Draconomicon and Martial Power books were all in perfect shape when I bought them and I haven't seen any smudging or binding problems yet.
